44 VDL Citea articulated electric buses for Amsterdam

The Netherlands – Amsterdam city transport operator, GVB, has ordered 44 Citea Electric SLFA-180 articulated buses from VDL Bus & Coach NV of Valkenswaard. Scheduled for delivery before the start of 2022 they join 31 existing units and expand GVB's electric bus fleet to 75. The VDL fleet used in Amsterdam city transport, currently consisting of 31 electric Citeas, will be expanded to 75 vehicles.

GVB aims to provide completely emission-free bus transport from 2025 onwards. Its initial electric fleet consisted of nine VDL Citea SLF-120 Electrics and 22 articulated Citea SLFA-180 Electric articulated buses. The new 44 articulated vehicles feature 422 kWh High Energy battery systems. They will be equipped with camera mirrors with two screens in the bus for safer operation in city traffic. All the new vehicles are equipped with an electric wheelchair ramp and have completely flat floors.
