AKASOL gains new battery contract with Van Hool

Germany / Belgium - AKASOL AG of Darmstadt, Germany (a subsidiary of Borgwarner Inc), a manufacturer of high-performance and high-energy lithium-ion battery systems, has signed a framework agreement to supply batteries to bus, coach and trailer builder, Van Hool NV of Koningshooikt, Belgium. Akasol is to supply the second and third generation of its high-energy battery systems for the customer’s new all-electric city bus starting in 2021 until 2026.
AKASOL will start with the supply of its second generation AKASystem 15 OEM 50 PRC high-performance battery systems for the new electric bus. Series manufacturing of the systems is expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2021 at AKASOL’s production facility in Langen, southern Hesse, Germany.
