BYD, Marcopolo, Expresso Princesa do Campos and ARCA launch electric coach operation in Brazil

BYD - BYD Brasil Ltd of Campinas, in partnership with body builder, Marcopolo SA of Caxias do Sul, have launched the first intercity electric coach, which went on trial for 90 days in June with transport operator, Expresso Princesa dos Campos of Curitiba, Paraná.

The new intercity coach has been built using the Marcopolo Viaggio 1050 body and mounted on the BYD D9F chassis, which is able to accommodate bodies up to 13.2m in length. The trial model has a 250kW BYD electric motor coupled to the rear axle. It has a range of 300km on a single charge and has capacity for 44 passengers with executive seating for long distance travel. A full battery recharge can be achieved in four hours.
