Cummins begins proof-of-concept tests of hydrogen-fuelled ICEs

USA - July 2021 saw Cummins Inc of Columbus, Indiana, USA begin testing a hydrogen-fuelled internal combustion engine as part of its proof-of-concept testing and to build on existing expertise in gaseous-fuel applications and powertrain products.

Following the proof-of-concept testing, the company says it plans to evaluate the engine in a variety of on- and off-highway applications as part of the company’s efforts to accelerate the decarbonization of commercial vehicles.
