Ribeirão Preto is yet another Brazilian city testing all-electric BYD buses

Brazil - The city of Ribeirão Preto (SP) has started testing the BYD D9W - 20 410 low-floor chassis fitted with a Caio Millenium body. This trial, which is offering free travel to passengers, follows several other tests in cities across Brazil of this nature to explore its credentials for reducing emissions and for the preservation of the environment.

BYD do Brasil Ltda of Campinas, SP sees itself as a pioneer in Brazil in the manufacture of 100% battery-powered electric buses and has set about generating new business for r-buses in Brazil by offering cities the opportunity to trial a bus and to help them develop the charging infrastructure. Having set up a factory in Campinas in 2015, it now has the capability to assemble standard high-floor (D9A), low-floor (D9W), midibus (D7M) and 22m (D11B) articulated chassis.
