BYD passes sales of 50 electric buses in Brazil as it ramps up local production of buses, batteries and solar panels

Brazil – Electric vehicle maker, BYD Co Ltd of Shenzhen, China, which has been actively working for more than seven years in Brazil demonstrating the benefits of 100% electric vehicles for society and the environment has now achieved sales of more than 50 all-electric vehicles (minibuses and city buses) supplied to different operators and cities in Brazil.

Sales by BYD do Brasil Ltda of Campinas, SP started in Brazil with five all-electric midibuses, built on the D7M chassis; one in operation in Santos and four in the city of Osasco; and the rest were large electric city buses. This number comprises 33, low-floor 13m-long low floor BYD D9W chassis, of which 18 are now in operation in São Paulo, six in Brasília, two in the cities of Bauru (SP), Maringá (PR) and Campinas (SP), and one unit in the municipalities of Volata Redonda (SP), Campinas and Belém (PA), and 12 units of the conventional high-floor D9A chassis with eight in Campinas (SP), one in Belém do Pará, in the Port of Pecém, (Ceará), and two in Vitória (ES). By the end of this year, BYD says it will deliver 12 units of the 22m-long articulated model for the Linha Verde Project, in the city of São José dos Campos.
