IP Rings and British company Eminox to establish emission control JV and technical centre in Chennai

Chennai / UK Chennai-based IP Rings Ltd (IRPL)1 - a subsidiary of Amalgamations Group and manufacturer of components for engines, gearboxes and turbochargers - has entered into an agreement with Eminox Ltd2 of Gainsborough, United Kingdom to set up a 50:50 joint venture (JV) in Chennai for the design, development and manufacture of full Exhaust Aftertreatment Systems (EATS). The new company will invest in a technical centre in Chennai to explore ways to cost effectively meet the Indian BS/TREM V off-highway3 and BS VI Stage 24 on-highway emissions standards. 

IP Rings, which currently manufacturing engine components and supply to Tata Motors Ltd, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, Force Motors Ltd, and Ashok Leyland Ltd, plan to manufacture the emission control products at its Chennai plant under license from Eminox. IP Rings explained the companies are in the product development stage for Indian certification and approval with testing and validation likely to take at least a year to test and validated by the approving agencies.
