USA – Los Angeles-based electric components manufacturer, Romeo Power Inc has announced it is to collaborate with San Diego-based vehicle-to-grid service provider, Nuvve Holding Corp to integrate communication protocols between Nuvve’s vehicle-to-grid platform and Romeo Power’s battery management system, thus enabling Romeo Power battery packs to become V2G compatible, regardless of the EV.

Nuvve’s V2G platform will allow excess energy from Romeo Power battery packs in parked EVs to be collected, stored, and shared on the grid. The technology will also regulate energy flow in order to mitigate battery degradation, as explained in a white paper published by Nuvve.1 In turn, Romeo Power expects to be able to monitor and analyse data related to battery life which will be drawn from the V2G platform. This data will be shared with their OEM partners, potentially leading to more cost-effective battery warranties.
