Sales of tractors in India grow by a factor of ten!

India - Domestic sales of tractor units experienced huge growth of 1079.9% during the first quarter of the India financial year 2021-22, increasing to 3,174 units from 269 units in the same quarter of the previous year. Tractor production increased by 992.9% overall from 338 units to 3,694 units, while exports went up by 1228.6% from 14 to 186 units.

The lightest tractor segment (26.4 tons < GVW ≤ 40 tons) recorded sales of 412 units, a growth of 677.4% from 53 units. Production increased by 1408.3% to 181 (from 12), for which Ashok Leyland was primarily responsible (12 to 146 units, an increase of 1116.7%). Exports increased to 30 units (from zero).
