USA / Canada – The NFI Group, the bus and coach manufacturer based in Winnipeg, signed an agreement with autonomous-drive specialist, Robotic Research Inc of Clarksburg, Maryland, to expand the deployment of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) across its North American bus fleets.

Robotic Research’s ‘AutoDrive’ technology incorporates Society of Automotive Engineers Standard J3016 capabilities up to Level 4 and adds ADAS features to help prevent pedestrian and cyclist collisions. The technology also enables precision docking, manoeuvring the bus within inches of level boarding platforms and thus increasing accessibility. AutoDrive also incorporates “leader-follower” behaviour, which electronically links multiple buses together to help ease congestion during peak traffic.
