Scania to trial electrification of UK road freight using overhead cables

Scania Research Truck to be trialled in UK electrification feasibility study

UKScania AB, the Södertälje, Sweden-based CV manufacturer, announced it will be participating in a feasibility study into the operation of electric trucks powered by overhead lines. This is the first study of its kind to be taking place in the UK, and its aim is to test the readiness of the technology, which is provided by Siemens Mobility Ltd of Ashby de la Zouch, UK – a subsidiary of Siemens Mobility GmbH in Munich, Germany - for a national roll-out.1
