Woven Planet acquires mapping software company – CARMERA - to help realise autonomous drive ambitions

Japan / USAWoven Planet Holdings Inc, the Tokyo-based subsidiary of Japanese manufacturer Toyota Motor Corporation, has acquired Carmera, a company specialising in AI-integrated mapping software and headquartered in New York and Seattle. 

Carmera will join Woven Planet’s Automated Mapping Platform team, whose aim is to create the most globally comprehensive road and lane network map, which is designed to support autonomous vehicles. CARMERA has developed its own map platform, which provides real-time updates for fleet operators using information captured from its camera-based crowdsourcing methods of data collection. Woven Planet hopes to use their expertise in further developing its own platform.
