Allison Transmissions expands EV capabilities at test centre

USA Allison Transmissions Inc of Indianapolis, Indiana, has expanded its electrification testing capabilities at its Vehicle Electrification + Environmental Test Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. Most importantly, this expansion includes extended battery emulation and commercial fast charging capabilities, allowing for around the clock testing.

Allison’s battery emulation machinery can now operate above 500 kW with a maximum of 900 volts DC. This facilitates electric vehicles to run directly from Allison’s in-house power supply for extended periods without having to stop and recharge, allowing for the completion of tests within a shorter timeframe. Furthermore, the facility also includes a fast-charging capability of 150 kW for tests of vehicles’ charging systems.
