Malaysia - The Malaysian commercial vehicle market over 2 tons gvw surged by almost 142% to 9,820 units in the second quarter of 2021 after plunging by over 70% to 4,064 units in the same period of last year, according to www.AsiaMotorBusiness.com analysis of industry wholesale data.

Malaysia's economy rebounded by over 16% year-on-year in the second quarter after plunging by over 17% a year earlier during the country’s first Movement Control Order (MCO), which was imposed to slow the initial spread of the coronavirus. The strong second quarter performance was driven by a sharp rebound in domestic consumption, investment and exports, following a 0.5% contraction in the first quarter and  in spite of new social and business restrictions which were imposed at the beginning of June to combat a new surge in coronavirus infections.
