Singapore / UK - The Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore later this year is expected to start operating a new and specifically designed version of the Alexander Dennis Enviro500 double-deck bus, configured with three doors, two staircases and full low floor.

The new 3-axle Euro VI diesel buses are part of the purchase of a 50 unit order placed with Alexander Dennis Ltd of Larbert back in 2019, which followed trials of a concept bus that Alexander Dennis developed for the LTA in 2016, which featured an aluminium composite body technology and several new safety and energy-saving features. It is understood the new buses will be 12.5m in length with a drivetrain consisting of the Mercedes-Benz Euro VI (SCR)OM 936 7.7-litre 6-cylinder engine and Voith DIWA 864.6 transmission. Another key difference is the rear-most axle is used as the drive axle, which differs from the standard Enviro500 offering where the middle axle is the drive axle.
