Volta Trucks to build battery-electric truck at Steyr plant in Austria

Sweden / Austria – September 2021 saw Volta Trucks AB of Stockholm, Sweden, and Steyr Automotive GmbH1 sign a contract manufacturing agreement for Steyr Automotive to produce a battery-electric truck at the Steyr plant in Upper Austria from the end of 2022. 

The truck which will be manufactured at Steyr is the ‘Volta Zero’, a 16-tonne battery-electric commercial vehicle, which is designed for short-distance urban operations. Its battery has a capacity of up to 225 kWh and a range of up to 200 km on a single charge, carrying a payload of up to 8,600 kg. Pilot tests of the truck are to commence in mid-2022.
