Volvo Trucks North America receives largest order to date for electric trucks

USAVolvo Trucks North America Inc, the Greensboro, North Carolina-based subsidiary of Swedish manufacturer, Volvo Trucks Corporation, says it has received an order for 16 VNR Electric trucks, the largest order of the electric model to date, from Performance Team LLC of El Segundo, California, a warehousing and distribution company and subsidiary of Danish shipping company, Maersk. Delivery is slated for the final quarter of this year. 

The fully-electric trucks, which have a range of 150 miles on a single charge, are designed for local and regional freight distribution. Production of the trucks began earlier this year at the New River Valley manufacturing plant in Dublin, Virginia.
