USA Orange EV of Riverside, Missouri, announced a new series of electric terminal tractors designed for intermodal freight operations at ports and rail depots. The new product line is slated for release in the third quarter of 2022.

In its announcement, Orange EV states the new terminal tractors will feature several enhancements over its existing T-Series line of yard trucks. The new series will have a top speed of 32 mph, compared with the T-Series’ top speed of 25 mph, and will boast a gross combined weight rating of 180,000 lbs, more than double that of the T-Series (81,000 lbs). They will be installed with Orange EV’s own battery packs, which have a capacity of 233 kWh and fast charging capabilities. Other improvements include a reinforced frame and boom and increased hydraulic capacity. These changes, Orange EV claims, will make the new series better suited to the greater demands of intermodal freight operations.
