Ballard unveils 8th generation heavy-duty fuel cell module

Canada – Ballard Power Systems Inc., based in Burnaby, British Columbia, has announced the 8th generation of its heavy-duty hydrogen fuel cell module, the FCmove-HD+.
Designed for buses and medium/heavy-trucks, the 8th generation FCmove-HD+ offers a power output of 100kW in a smaller and simplified package. Ballard claims that when compared to the previous version, the 8th gen is 40% more compact, 30% lighter and has 50% fewer component parts. Ballard adds this new generation technology offers up to 40% improvement in total lifecycle cost without compromising the module’s performance.
