USA / UK / Netherlands - Following on from a successful proof-of-concept test in July of 2021, Cummins Inc of Columbus, Indiana, has announced its hydrogen-fuelled ICE project is progressing to medium and heavy-duty platform development.

Cummins will develop two engine variants in the H2-ICE program. The smaller model is a 6.7 litre engine designed for medium-duty applications, including trucks, buses, and construction vehicles such as excavators and wheel loaders. The company will also produce a heavy-duty version with a displacement of 15 litres, designed for long-haul trucks up to a 44-tonne GVW.
