USAVolvo Trucks North America Inc, the Greensboro, North Carolina-based subsidiary of Swedish manufacturer, Volvo Trucks Corporation, announced a partnership with software company, AMPLY Power of Mountain View, California, with the aim of providing Volvo customers with charge management services. These, Volvo claims, will help to reduce the total cost of ownership for fleets employing heavy-duty electric vehicles.

AMPLY Power has joined the Volvo Group Connected Solutions Innovation Lab, an R&D division employing data from the Volvo Group’s customers to develop new solutions for the logistics sector. The division has an office, called ‘Hub335’, in Mountain View, in the heart of Silicon Valley. AMPLY Power and the Innovation Lab are currently working with two heavy-duty electric truck fleets, one of which is Manhattan Beer Distributors, who recently ordered five Volvo VNR Electric trucks – see August 2021 issue of T&BB for further details. AMPLY Power will be helping Manhattan Beer Distributors to manage the charging of their trucks, using its ‘OMEGA Charge Management System’ to optimise fleet charging schedules and servicing.
