Brazil – According to data released by ANFAVEA (Associação Nacional de Fabricantes de Veículos Automotores), production of trucks and buses grew by 84.6% in the first nine months of 2021 (132,867 units over 71,959 in the same period of the previous year). The truck segment grew 103.7%, with 118,302 units produced against 58,075 in the previous year. Production in the bus segment also grew, by a modest 4.9%.

Although the production figures are very positive, the industry is dealing with supply chain issues, which resulted in a 7.7% drop between August and September (14,963 to 13,816 units), the first month-by-month fall in production recorded this year. As a result, ANFAVEA revised its forecast for the truck segment, marginally decreasing its end-of-year production estimate from 122,000 units to 120,000 – which nevertheless represents a 34% increase over 2020.
