Sumitomo to invest USD190 million in Brazilian production facility

Brazil – Sumitomo Rubber do Brasil Ltda, a subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation of Tokyo, Japan, has announced it will invest USD190 million over the next five years to expand the production capacity of its factory in Fazenda Rio Grande, Paraná. The plant currently produces light commercial vehicle tyres for the Dunlop, Falken and Sumitomo brands that were previously manufactured and imported from Japan.

According to Rodrigo Alonso, Sales and Marketing Director at Sumitomo, the goal is to double the production of LCV tyres from around 1,000 units per day to more than 2,200 per day by 2025. Alonso also explained that Sumitomo has begun producing tyres for heavy commercial vehicles, with around 1,000 units produced per day.
