Grammer unveils sustainable seats for bus and rail

Germany – Global seat manufacturer Grammer AG, based in Amberg, Germany, has unveiled a range of sustainably produced seats for the bus and rail segments, titled the Ubility One Concept. With the launch of this seat and passenger support range, the company announced a significant shift in strategy to deliver sustainable products that feature lightweight, renewable and reusable materials. The product range comprises the Ubility Air, Ubiliy Light, and Ubility Shift models.

Grammer has designed the seats to be manufactured from reusable materials that offer increased sustainability over conventional designs, as well as significant weight savings. For example, the company estimates that the reusable frame of the Ubility Light, made out of only five pieces, can reduce weight by 60% compared to similar products. Two Ubility Light seats, including the frame and base, weigh a total of 14.6kg. The Ubility Air seats weigh 4kg each and are also manufactured from 100% recyclable materials. The Ubility Shift is a unique concept altogether, functioning as a handrail, leaning surface or a minimalistic seat.
