Germany Schmitz Cargobull AG, a manufacturer of semi-trailers, trailers, and truck bodies based in Horstmar, North Rhine-Westphalia, released its year end report in October which reflects on the results of the financial year 1 April 2020 – 31 March 2021. Although the period was dominated by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company put a positive spin on the outcome, pointing to increased profits despite a decrease in production and sales.

Schmitz Cargobull reported that 42,470 vehicles were produced, generating sales of EUR1.74bn. In the previous year, the company produced 46,124 vehicles and generated EUR1.87bn in sales revenue. The financial year of 2020/21 therefore saw a reduction in production and sales of 7.9% and 7% respectively.
