New Flyer signs supply contract for up to 150 electric buses

USA / CanadaNew Flyer Industries Canada ULC, a subsidiary of the NFI Group based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, has signed a five-year contract for the supply of up to 150 battery-electric buses to the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (“NFTA-Metro”), a public transport operator based in Buffalo, New York, USA. 

The contract stipulates a firm order for 10 Xcelsior CHARGE NG buses. These battery-electric buses by New Flyer come in three lengths (35, 40, and 60 feet) with varying seat capacities (32, 40, and 61 respectively). The 40-foot model offers a range of up to 251 miles on a single charge. In addition, the contract provides NFTA-Metro the option to purchase up to 140 additional buses. When delivered, the buses will be put into service in the Erie and Niagara counties in the western part of New York state.
