USA / Canada –The NFI Group Inc, a bus and coach manufacturer based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, has received an order for 118 more vehicles from the New Jersey Transit Corporation (“NJ Transit”), a state-owned public transport operator based in Newark, New Jersey, USA, adding to an order for 55 vehicles made earlier in the year. These orders were made as part of an existing six-year supply agreement struck in 2015.

NJ Transit has ordered 118 ‘D4500’ commuter coaches which are 45 feet in length and can carry 55 passengers and which are manufactured by NFI’s subsidiary, Motor Coach Industries (“MCI”), based in Des Plaines, Illinois, USA. These are in addition to 30 D4500 coaches and 25 60-foot ‘Xcelsior’ buses by another NFI subsidiary, New Flyer, ordered earlier this year. The NJ Transit fleet, which is undergoing renewal, serves to connect New Jersey with Pennsylvania and New York.
