USA / Australia SEA Electric, an Australian-American specialist in e-powertrains based in Los Angeles, California, USA, has received an order for 1,150 new trucks from GATR EV, the electric vehicle division of GATR Truck Centers, a truck dealership with sites in Minnesota and Iowa. This represents the single largest order ever received by the company.

GATR EV placed an order for 1,150 ‘SEA Hino M5’ trucks, vehicles based on the Hino 500/M series of medium-duty trucks. SEA Electric is supplied with glider chassis by Hino Motors Manufacturing USA Inc (which are assembled at Hino’s medium-duty truck plant in Mineral Wells, West Virginia) onto which it installs its electric powertrain technology. The ‘SEA-Drive 120a’ provides a maximum power output ranging between 125-350 kW for trucks between 6.5 and 18t gross vehicle mass and are fitted with a battery pack of up to 138-kWh. The first forty trucks are slated for delivery by the end of the year, with the remaining trucks to be delivered throughout 2022.
