Ashok Leyland steps up alternative fuel engine development in Hosur

Chennai/ Hosur – Ashok Leyland Ltd of Chennai, has built up dedicated teams at its Hosur engine plant to develop and deliver advanced alternative-fuelled engines. It offers fully homologated CNG and LNG powered engines manufactured at the Hosur plant. The OEM says these engines already produce lower emissions as well as being cheaper than their diesel counterparts. It is now developing a range of engines using alternative fuels, including hydrogen.

Dr N Saravanan, CTO, Ashok Leyland, said: “On alternate fuel options, we are already seeing a push for CNG and LNG, and expect other fuels such as methanol and hydrogen to start replacing fossil fuels. At Ashok Leyland, we are working on the development of all the above alternate fuel technologies, while we continue to make our IC engines more efficient.”
