Indian rigid truck sales experience major rebound in first half of the FY 2021-22

India – Positive sales of medium and heavy rigid trucks (7.5t gvw and above) in India of the first quarter continued into the second, realising growth of 165.8% in the first half (1H) of FY2021-22 to register 70,917 units compared with 26,677 units in same period of 2020-21. Exports of rigid trucks, also flourished, up by 285.9% at 10,980 units in 1H of FY 2021-22 from 2,845 units in the same period of the previous year. Production of the rigid trucks increased by 163.8% to 84,463 units in first half of FY 2021-22 from 32,017 units in the first half of the previous year.

Sales of medium-duty rigid trucks sales (7.5 tons to 12 tons gvw) increased by 141.7% to register 13,148 units in first half of FY 2021-22, up from 5,440 units in the same period of the previous fiscal year. Exports swelled to up by 244.3% with sales boosting production by 104.7% to circa. 17,000 units.
