India’s rigid truck sales double in Q2 2021

India - Sales of medium and heavy rigid trucks (7.5t gvw and above) in India enjoyed robust growth of 102.2% in Q2 of FY2021-22 to register 46,019 units compared with  from 22,764 units in same quarter of the year 2020-21. Export sales of rigid trucks was also spectacularly up during the period by 221.4% to 6,084 units in the second quarter of FY 2021-22 from 1,893 units in the same quarter of the previous year. Production of the rigid trucks commensurately increased by 85.7% to 48,762 units in Q2 of FY 2021-22 from 26,253 units in the Q2 of the previous year. Tata Motors was the main manufacturer to benefit from increased demand

Sales of medium-duty rigid trucks sales (7.5t to 12 tons) mirrored overall growth in the segment, rising by 102.4% to register 9,814 units compared with from 4,848 units in Q2 of FY 2020-21. Export sales bolstered output by rising 221.6% with production up by 53% to over 10,000 units.
