Meritor to supply Akia with 60 ProTec 5000 Series axles

USA / Turkey – Meritor Inc, a components manufacturer based in Troy, Michigan, USA, has announced it will be supplying Akia Hess Otomotiv Karoser Imalat San ve Tic Ltd (“Akia”) of Bursa, Turkey, with 60 tandem drive axles for Akia’s 24-metre buses. This represents Meritor’s first order from the Turkish bus manufacturer.
The order for 60 ProTec 500 Series beam axles was first lodged in May, with a three-month turnaround on production start. Meritor has successfully begun production of the 60 units in time and will start deliveries in December. The deal is the culmination of talks between the two companies which began five years ago, when Meritor sent a prototype axle to Akia.
