Germany / SwitzerlandZF Friedrichshafen AG, an automotive components manufacturer based in Friedrichschafen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, has acquired the technology behind the route-planning software developed by Bestmile SA of Lausanne, Vaud, Switzerland, as part of its ‘Next Generation Mobility’ strategy (outlined in T&BB October 2021).

Bestmile’s technology is designed for fleet management, optimising route-planning and vehicle dispatch in real time. It is vehicle agnostic, making it suited for both human-driven and autonomous vehicles. ZF’s stated ambition is to leverage Bestmile’s technology to build a ‘Mobility Orchestration Platform’ for the commercial vehicle industry: a software platform which will remotely co-ordinate the transportation of goods and people in real-time.
