Chereau showcases eTrailer at Solutrans

France – Jean Chereau S.A.S. of Ducey, France, has unveiled its new electric reefer featuring solar panel and a regenerative axle at the Solutrans show in Lyon.
The reefer features an Addvolt 34kW battery pack that can be charged by the 27m² of solar panels mounted on the roof of the trailer; these panels can provide a peak output of 4.5kW. Chereau’s reefer is also equipped with a 24kW regenerative rear axle, supplied by SAF-Holland, which can recharge the battery pack during braking or downhill driving. The firm estimates that around six hours of driving will recharge the battery via the e-axle. Cooling for the reefer is nose mounted, provided by Carrier.
