Daikin unveils first refrigerated trailer unit at Solutrans

Belgium – Daikin Europe N.V. of Ostend, Belgium, a subsidiary of Daikin Industries Ltd, headquartered in Osaka, Japan, has unveiled its first Daikin branded refrigerated trailer unit at the Solutrans show in Lyon.

The prototype on show at Solutrans displayed the Exigo E1500, the first item in the Exigo product range. Featuring a 1.5 litre diesel engine driving a proprietary inverter - which in-turn drives the variable speed compressor and fans – the unit outputs 15kW of power. The variable speeds allow the compressor and fans to run at the lowest speed necessary to achieve the desired temperature, which the firm claims can reduce fuel consumption by 20% compared to fixed speed models. The unit’s inverter, electronics, microcontrollers and telematics are all produced in-house by Daikin.
