First Bus to retrofit 220 buses with new transmissions from Allison

UK / USA – Indianapolis-based Allison Transmission Inc has announced that First Bus - the UK’s second largest bus operator - will retrofit 220 T2100 xFE transmissions to its vehicles after trials showed an 8.5% improvement in fuel consumption.

The order will see the retrofitting of all First Bus’ ADL Enviro 200, Optare Solo and Optare Versa buses that are currently equipped with Allison’s T2100 transmission. Both firms expect the savings on diesel bills to pay back the investment in the new transmissions in under 13 months.
