UKULEMCo Ltd, an electrification specialist based in Liverpool, UK, has announced that it is developing a vehicle platform for specialised truck applications which will employ the Toyota Motor Corporation’s hydrogen fuel cell module.

In March of this year, Toyota released a compact hydrogen fuel cell system which is designed for simple integration in a range of applications, including trucks and buses. ULEMCo is currently evaluating its suitability for certain specialist applications as part of a feasibility project called ‘HySPERT’, or Hydrogen Special Purpose Electric vehicle platform for Refuse collection and fire Trucks. The company’s ultimate goal is to develop a vehicle platform brand (called ‘HyVERIE’) which can be configured on chassis gliders or bespoke specialist body designs, allowing for the use of hydrogen fuel cell systems in a variety of specialist applications.
