Japan – UD Trucks, a brand of Isuzu Motors Ltd of Shinagawa, Tokyo, Japan, plans to carry out autonomous driving trials using a Quon truck equipped with Level-4 technologies at Kobe Steel’s Kakogawa Works site next year.

UD Trucks said the initiative is partly in response to a chronic shortage of drivers at the steel works, while also aiming to promote digital transformation at manufacturing and logistics sites. The truck, equipped with Level-4 autonomous driving technologies, will be deployed on a test route within the Kakogawa Works site in the second half of 2022.
