USANuvve Holding Corp of San Diego, California will install up to 200 DC 125 kW fast-charging stations at Blue Bird Corporation’s headquarters and delivery facility in Fort Valley, Georgia. The charging stations will be compatible with Nuvve’s proprietary ‘Vehicle-to-Grid’ (V2G) software, allowing electric buses coming off the production line to act as energy storage assets while waiting to be delivered.

Nuvve’s V2G technology optimises charging schedules so operators can take advantage of low energy rates at off-peak times. It also allows vehicles to discharge energy into the grid at times of peak demand, earning extra remuneration for the operator. The company claims that discharging idle vehicles waiting at the facility will also help Blue Bird to maintain battery health, as leaving electric vehicles stood idle at near-full or near-empty energy capacity can degrade battery storage potential.
