Lightning eMotors reveals proprietary LCV eChassis

USA / Mexico – Loveland, Colorado-based electrification specialist Lightning eMotors Inc has announced it is now offering the Lightning eChassis for Class 4 and 5 commercial vehicles. Lightning claims that with this addition of the eChassis makes it the only EV manufacturer that offers both the electrification of existing OEM chassis as well as purpose-built electric CVs.

The chassis has been developed in collaboration with Metalsa S.A. de C.V. (Metalsa), a structural chassis component supplier based in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico. The firms state that the eChassis offering will support chassis cab, stripped chassis, and cutaway chassis configurations, making the product suitable to a range of battery and powertrain integrations. In addition, they claim that the eChassis supports an increased GVW of approximately 680kg, on average, more than competing products, making it suitable for refrigerated trucks, shuttle buses, and ambulances.
