Meritor to supply Beijing Foton Daimler with axles for heavy-duty trucks

USA / China – Meritor Inc, a components manufacturer based in Troy, Michigan, USA, has signed an agreement with Beijing Foton Daimler Automotive Co Ltd (“BFDA”), a 50:50 joint venture between Daimler Truck AG and Beiqi Foton Motor Co Ltd, for the supply of custom versions of Meritor’s long-haul tandem and rear-drive axles designed for heavy-duty trucks.
The Meritor axles, which will be produced as part of the agreement, will be installed on Mercedes-Benz tractor units manufactured by BFDA for the Chinese market. Production of the first trucks is slated to begin at the end of the year. Ken Hogan, Senior Vice President for Truck, Europe and Asia Pacific, commented that Meritor is “excited for the opportunity to grow in the China on-highway market through collaboration with BFDA.”
