ADL restarts COVID-hit Plaxton production

UK – Larbert, Scotland-based bus and coach builder Alexander Dennis Ltd (ADL), a subsidiary of NFI Group Inc, has announced it is restarting production of Plaxton coaches at its factory in Scarborough. Production had been temporarily paused after the coronavirus pandemic caused a drop in demand.

ADL states that Plaxton demand has been driven by interest in the high-capacity Leopard, which will be available from April this year in a mix of 12.2m and 12.8m variants. Based on the Volvo B8R chassis, the Leopard can seat up to 72 passengers. Despite the halt in production, ADL delivered 89 Plaxton coaches in 2021 as it was able to continue selling existing stock.
