Hess receives order for 25 double-articulating trolleybuses from the French city of Nancy

Switzerland / France – Carrosserie HESS AG, based in Bellach, Switzerland, has received an order for 25 units of its lighTram 25 double-articulating trolleybus from the French city of Nancy. The trolleybuses are already in operation in multiple Swiss cities, such as Bern, Zurich, Lausanne, Lucerne, and St. Gallen.

Rather than undergo a EUR500 million project to construct a new tram line in Nancy, Hess  says the city chose to spend EUR50 million on converting the existing tramway for trolleybus operations. This option also allows the city to partly reuse existing overhead powerlines from the old tramway.
