Italy / China UFI Filters SpA of Porto Mantovano, Italy has signed an agreement with JiaXing XiuZhou High-Technology Industrial Park Administrative Committee to build a new plant in Zhejiang province, China for the production of advanced filtration and thermal management systems for low- and zero-emission vehicles, including commercial vehicles. Production is set to begin at the new facility in 2023.

The plant will be built in the Yangzi Delta region, not far from UFI Filters’ four existing industrial sites in the municipality of Shanghai. The new site will cover more than 36,000m2, comprising production and warehouse facilities and creating more than 600 new jobs. Additionally, there is scope to expand onto an adjacent 30,000m2 plot in the future. The facility, representing an investment of EUR25m, will be UFI Filters’ seventh in China, but its first to be dedicated to serving so-called “new energy vehicles”, which is the collective name given by the People’s Republic to battery-electric vehicles, fuel-cell electric vehicles, and plug-in hybrids.
