CESL issues $733m tender to procure 5,580 e-buses

New Delhi - State-owned Convergence Energy Services Ltd (CESL)1 has sent out tenders (under the ‘Grand Challenge Scheme’ - see below) on behalf of five major cities, for the purchase of 5,450 electric single deck buses and 130 electric double deck buses. The total tenders are said to be worth around USD733.3mn in total. 

The Grand Challenge Scheme aims to reduce the operating costs for cities by removing bottlenecks to procuring electric buses by State Transport Undertakings (STUs), by instituting best in class practices, and instituting best e-bus operating standards (For more details see T&BB India - November 2021 edition).
