This vehicle is being utilised for regional distribution and long-haul deliveries as part of a UK-funded government project to demonstrate how battery-electric heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) can effectively replace conventional HGVs at scale on the UK road network.

Plug Power says the loan will help to finance the construction of up to six projects to produce and liquefy hydrogen across America.

In January 2025 New York State Governor Kathy Hochul announced a new round of USD 100 million in State funding for the purchase of new zero-emission buses as well as the necessary charging equipment/refuelling technology.

Successful applicants will receive up to USD200,000 in the first phase to prove the feasibility of an idea; they may then receive up to USD1m towards further development of their idea, including prototyping, validation, and testing.

Besides developing these trucks, the project includes investing in production facilities and feasibility studies into the European hydrogen value chain. The funding is to complement existing Daimler Truck projects focusing on liquefied hydrogen refuelling technology, storage and refilling logistics.

The initiative is enabled by the “hydrogen in mobility” subsidy scheme (Subsidieregeling Waterstof in Mobiliteit, or “SWiM”), which is offering a total of EUR40m to applicants next year.

The budget is aimed at incentivizing around 28.81 lakh electric vehicles over the next two years!

Initially, the facility will have a production capacity of 50,000 packs a year; MAN is hoping to expand this to 100,000 by 2030.

These funding packages are aimed at creating an e-charging infrastructure to encourage the uptake of electric trucks in the Netherlands.
