Mercedes-Benz to begin production of next-gen eSprinter in 2023

Germany / USAMercedes-Benz Group AG (formerly known as ‘Daimler AG’) of Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany has announced that production of the next-generation ‘eSprinter’ battery-electric van will begin in the second half of 2023 in the USA. 

Next-gen eSprinter production will begin at Mercedes-Benz’s plant in Charleston, South Carolina, and will also subsequently take place at plants in Düsseldorf, North Rhine-Westphalia and Ludwigsfelde, Brandenburg. Production of the new generation of vans will reportedly be carbon neutral. The manufacturer has invested EUR350m into the new eSprinter so far, of which approximately EUR50m is financing alterations to the three plants.
