USA / France Plug Power Inc, a manufacturer of hydrogen fuel cells and electrolysers based in Latham, New York, is collaborating with Atlas Copco Mafi-Trench Company LLC of Santa Maria, California and Fives SAS of Paris, France in the construction of hydrogen liquefaction plants, with the aim of making hydrogen easier and cheaper to transport.

Atlas Copco is a manufacturer of turboexpanders, while Fives makes brazed heat exchangers and cryogenic cold boxes. Both companies will be supplying key components in the construction of hydrogen liquefiers. Plug Power expects to commission hydrogen liquefier road-trains with 15-ton and 30-ton per day capacities starting in 2023. Across the USA, Plug Power aims to supply 500 tons of liquid green hydrogen every day by 2025, and 1,000 tons per day globally by 2028.
