New Flyer receives deluge of orders from U.S. transit bus operators

Canada / USA - New Flyer Industries Canada ULC, a subsidiary of the NFI Group based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, has received an order for up to 83 battery-electric buses from New Jersey Transit Corporation of Newark, New Jersey which operates public transportation between its home state and neighbours New York and Philadelphia. 

The five-year contract stipulates a firm order for 8 Xcelsior CHARGE NG forty-foot buses, along with options to purchase an additional 75 battery-electric buses. The CHARGE NG delivers up to 525 kWh of power and features a new lightweight electric traction drive system which reportedly provides up to 90% energy recovery.
