Scania reports 17% growth in sales in 2021

SwedenTraton subsidiary Scania AB of Södertälje, Sweden reported its full-year and Q4 2021 results in a separate release, announcing annual sales of SEK146m in 2021 and SEK38.5m in the fourth quarter – respective increases of 17% and 6% on figures recorded last year. 

The company’s overall order intake of trucks and buses was 116,798 units, up 26% on 92,940 units in 2020. 90,366 vehicles were delivered in 2021, 25% greater than deliveries made in 2020 (72,085). In Q4, however, the company’s order intake plunged by 50% to 16,338 units, while deliveries fell 5% to 23,131. Scania claimed that customers for its trucks, which make up the vast majority of the manufacturer’s sales, are holding off on placing orders due to long lead times and the upcoming release of Scania’s new Euro 6 trucks.
